A gala fundraiser to celebrate the name change and highlight therenovations to the theatre will held this evening. In addition to anew brand name, the theatre has undergone some extensive renovationsincluding a refurbished lobby, the addition of a new box office, anew Yogun Fruz frozen dessert bar, offering a wide selection of no-fat and low-fat yoghurts and premium ice creams, and a birthday partyroom enabling local children to celebrate their birthdays at themovies.

"We are very pleased to be able to celebrate this event with twofantastic community organizations and the people of Medicine Hat"said Marshall.
This evening, the theatre will host a sold-out gala fundraiser insupport of the United Way of Southeastern Alberta, and the MedicineHat and District Health Foundation. All of the proceeds from theevent will be donated to these two organizations.
In attendance at the Gala will be Medicine Hat Deputy Mayor,Graham Kelly; Director of Development, Medicine Hat and DistrictHealth Foundation, Dana Cooper; Executive Director, United WaySoutheastern Alberta, Holly Beauchamp; and General Manager, GalaxyCinemas Medicine Hat, Evan Beheil; as well as many members of theMedicine Hat community. Following the official renaming ceremony,guests of the Gala will then be treated to screenings of aselectionof major motion pictures. The theatre will be closed to the generalpublic for the evening.
The newly renovated Galaxy Cinemas Medicine Hat, located at theMedicine Hat Mall (3292 Dunmore Rd. S.E.), features 10 auditoriums,all equipped with full digital surround sound and stadium-styleseating. In addition to a Cinescape games area, the theatre alsofeatures a brand new birthday party room, ideal for children'sbirthday parties and special gatherings. The concession offeringsinclude the traditional "must have" movie-going food choices ofpopcorn, candy and soft drinks, and will now also feature Yogun Fruzfrozen yoghurts, smoothies and premium ice creams.
Galaxy Cinemas Medicine Hat also features automated ticketingmachines to speed up the ticket-purchase and enables guests topurchase tickets for movies in advance, even when the theatre isclosed.
